Staff
Without good staff a hostel does not work. We are lucky to have the best we could wish for! We mostly work with backpackers who came to Tallinn and never left. So be aware that if you decide to come here, you might never leave… Meet the staff and our friends here below or check out our past victims in the hall of fame (and shame).
Hugo Hugo the Boss from the Netherlands came to write a guide book, met a nice Estonian girl and never left. Now he runs the hostel, though he prefers to take the guests out in his blue minibus for a daytrip.

Ollie Finally back to normal. Struggled half a year to achieve the impossible: having a relationship in a hostel. Now he keeps it outside instead, kind of (sorry, Hans). When he’s not sleeping on a couch, he’s the guy you’ll see telling everyone else to do some work. Usually. Hope he won’t get bored with that too quickly, we need him to keep this beautiful website up to date!

Liis Another Eesti country girl. Breaks the hearts of all the boys when she’s not crushing them with her punk boots. Brings a touch of balance into the house with her penchant for drawing artworks amongst all the other savagery. Now looking after our Viru building and hand decorating every inch of it.

Tim Our charming English gent was (un)fortunate enough to arrive in the middle of Dave’s leaving party. Somehow he thought this place looked kind of fun and ended up staying. Always ready for a cup of tea and a chat and occasionally a gin and tonic. He knows too much about obscure movies, especially crud like Turkish Star Wars. Now’s making a mess in the Monk’s Bunk.

Thomas Peeping Tom brings a bit of Belgian joy to the hostel, along with apparently a knowledge of 8 languages. Loves to take guests around town for his own tours or even out for a few drinks. Perhaps he’ll even open his own “Brown cafe”. Just make sure you don’t let him play guitar.

Egle 8 Egle found us through her friend, Laura. Over the next few months the eagle begged and pleaded her way into becoming a volunteer and is probably one of the cutest and most artistic nerds you’ll ever meet. She’s so nerdy she always offers to work nights on weekends. That’s one of the reasons why she’s so popular. If you’re lucky she might even take you role playing.

Anne Can you imagine it? An Estonian vegetarian! Our heads nearly exploded when we found out. If you see Anne doing anything other than cleaning it’s probably studying for her exams. If any guests staying here are tutors, any help would surely be appreciated.

Maarja The first person awake on the weekends, because she arrives in the mornings to work. Maarja gets the fun job of keeping our hostel tidy while everyone else is hung over. We don’t know how she manages it, but she always manages to keep a smile while she does it.

Triin Triin is another proud redhead in a long line of Estonian women. When she’s not attempting to regain lost sleep after slaving away at EAT she’s usually running around looking for her lost clothes or doing the laundry. Maybe that’s where her clothes went?

Marja If having two Egle’s wasn’t confusing enough, we now have a Maarja and a Marja. The good news is, this Marja works in an alcohol store! There’s nothing cooler that can be said than that, really. The other good news

Egle 1 Another Lithuanian princess. Although she never worked in our hostel (she also lives in Uus), she’s still here enough to be a part of it. Looks harmless (and she’s even named after a Christmas tree) but very dangerous with a vodka bottle in her hand.

Roosi Be careful, she is the daughter of the boss. Soon her dad will let her clean the toilets, but for now she just has to hang out as the cute baby.

Marika Swears too much, drinks a lot and has a cute accent. Marika likes to run around the building and start decorating on a whim. Not because she works here, she’s just bored. Usually it ends up looking pretty good. If there’s nothing left to hang on the wall, she’ll just run around and do something funny, instead.

Edith The Pelmeeni girl: a wannabe staff member considering the amount of time she spends in the hostel. So much that you start wondering how she is running her EAT-restaurant, but her dumplings and donuts are good!

Ben Our most loyal guest, came here for the first time 5 years ago. He doesn’t agree, but he is basically staff, though his contribution is mainly just sitting on a couch behind his laptop (says he will become millionaire) and taking people out partying to Hollywood.

Kea Though not working here, you most likely will see her around. She is our “Estonian” for all your questions about life in Estonia now and 20 years ago (though she might get bored telling the same story over and over again).

Martin Swedish Martin knows everyone in Tallinn. Honestly, everyone. He’s also such a prolific drinker that the term “alcoholic” doesn’t do him justice. He doesn’t work here but you’ll probably see him around from time to time. If you can hear someone opening a beer bottle at 10am it’ll be him.

Livijus The Godfather of backpacking in the Baltics, whose fame spreads from Vilnius to small towns and villages in Japan. Our mystery man, says he is from outer space, comes and goes before you know it and likes to talk about all kinds of stuff you never even thought about.
