Tallinn Backpackers

Hostel Tallinn Backpackers is located right in the middle of the Old Town, not far from the ferry terminals. We’ve got an awesome medieval building with the perfect layout for a backpackers. It was just renovated a few years ago, so everything looks brand new and almost too posh to be a youth hostel.

But more than anything Tallinn Backpackers is a place where you can relax and feel at home. We have a huge common room where you can chill out and meet other travellers, watch movies on our big screen, play foosball, Wii-Sports, check your emails or even just curl up and read a book.

Oh, and this, of course, is where we spontaneously start all of our legendary Tallinn Backpackers parties! So, come and let our easy going staff (mostly backpackers themselves) introduce you to your new home-away-from-home in Tallinn.

Rooms

Currently we have 34 beds divided over 5 rooms: an 8 bed ensuite, a 6 bed ensuite, two 6 bed dorms and another 8 bed dorm. Depending on the season we also rent them out as private rooms (sized 2-8). Our 8 bed ensuite is definitely the nicest, located on its own floor with a huge luxury bathroom and sauna. We think our second 8 bed dorm is pretty cool too, as it’s in a crazy basement.Every bed has locker and linen provided.

Bathrooms and sauna

There’s not much we can say about our bathrooms. They’re simply beautiful! Heated floors, nice and bright, spotlessly clean and plenty of hot water. One even has a jacuzzi! What more could you want? Maybe a free sauna? Well, we have one and to get the real Baltic experience you should try it at least once. Whether you want to go alone, with friends or naked in a mixed group (like the Estonians do) is up to you. A tip: for the best effect do short sessions and take ice cold showers during the breaks.

Kitchen

We have a fully equipped kitchen with a stove, oven, microwave, two refrigerators, pots, pans, toaster, sandwich press, tea, coffee, cutlery,table, chairs, windows, lights, everything! There’s usually lots of free ingredients from departed guests in the cupboards as well, if you feel like creating a masterpiece from leftovers. Be as much of a culinary wizard as you like, just one thing: clean up after yourself!

Internet

We have guest computers in the common room that are free for use. They’re loaded with plenty of handy software for the technophiles and a headset is available if you like to use Skype. For those who travel with a laptop you can pick up our wifi network and relax on the couch while you surf. And if you need to use the reception phone or if you want to print something: no worries, ask our staff and we will help you!

About the building

Our building dates back from the 15th century , and has been owned for centuries by a rich merchant family. You can still clearly see fragments of its original medieval appearance. Renovations just a few years ago made it into one of the most exclusive houses in the Old Town. To keep it in such a good condition, we have introduced a “shoes off” policy. Some people love it, some think it’s weird, but we like it because it keeps the building clean and it makes things feel more homely. Don’t worry, our floors are warm!
