Hostel
History
We are located in two properties that look far too posh to be considered hostels. Recently we changed address to a beautifully renovated, historical merchant building in the middle of the old town. The rooms are terrific, some even have ensuites and a sauna!
Staying with us is not only about sleeping comfortably and having a nice, hot shower. Our hostel is a where you can relax and feel like you’re at home. We have a huge but extremely cozy living room/common area where you can chill out and meet other travellers, watch movies, play foosball, check your emails or even just curl up and read a book.
So, come and let our easy going staff (mostly backpackers themselves) introduce you to your new home-away-from-home in Tallinn.
Rooms
Currently we have 34 beds divided over 5 rooms: an 8 bed ensuite, a 6 bed ensuite, two 6 bed dorms and another 8 bed dorm. The nicest is definitely our 8 bed ensuite which is located on its own floor with a huge luxury bathroom and sauna. We think the second 8 bed dorm is pretty cool as well (but maybe not everyone would agree) as it’s in a funky basement. Every bed has a locker provided if you would like one and we hire out bed linen for 25 EEK per set.
The Shit Room
We tried to carry on our tradition of having our beloved “shit room”. In our old building (back in the days) this was truly an unrenovated “shit room” with construction equipment, trash, spiders and lots of dirt all around the place. Last year it was completely packed with mattresses and drunk people falling over each other… Later we made it completely decorated, in a floral, hippy-style and even bunks instead of mattresses.
This year you really can’t call it a shit room anymore (even though we still do). Now it’s in a centrally heated basement! It’s warm and dry and comfortable enough to sleep right into the afternoon. We only give it away in case we are really, really full. So try your luck and arrive very late without a booking and who knows you may gain the honour of sleeping there.
Bathrooms
There’s not much we can say. They’re simply beautiful! Heated floors, nice and bright, spotlessly clean and plenty of hot water. What more could you want?
Sauna
To get the real Baltic experience you should try a sauna at least once. We have one and you can use it for FREE! We turn on our sauna for a few hours each day in the afternoon/early evening, partly to conserve energy but also because it happens to be in the 8 bed ensuite bathroom, so we don’t want to disturb guests staying in that room too much.
Whether you want to go alone, with friends or naked in a mixed group (like the Estonians do) is up to you. A tip: for the best effect do short sessions and take ice cold showers during the breaks.
Kitchen
Our kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, microwave, two refridgerators, pots, pans, toaster, sandwich press, tea, coffee, cutlery, table, chairs, windows, lights, everything! There’s usually lots of free ingredients from departed guests in the cupboards as well, if you feel like creating a masterpiece from leftovers. Be as much of a culinary wizard as you like, just one thing: clean up after yourself!
Internet
We have guest computers in the common room that are free for use. They’re loaded with plenty of handy software for the technophiles and a headset is available if you like to use Skype. For those who travel with a laptop you can pick up our WiFi network and relax on the couch while you surf.
Big screen movies
If your feet are getting tired and you just want to hang out “at home” there’s always the possibility of watching a movie on our big screen. We have a diverse (constantly expanding) selection for everyone’s taste.
Two more things
Firstly, we have a “shoes off” policy. Some people love it, some think it’s weird, but we like it because it keeps the building clean and it makes things feel more homely. Don’t worry, our floors are warm!
Secondly, there is no curfew, but we like to keep the noise down after 23:00.
